VIP Information For April......

As I put together my notes for our monthly meeting that is on April 14, 2014 I had noticed there were a few things that even slipped my mind. So I am writing to everyone to make sure they are aware of these things by going to the 11th edition of our calender.

With that said we are starting our Spring Food Drive. Starting April 1st ending on the last month.

Our Fall Food Drive raised almost 1,000 pounds and was recognized by the Lake County School Board for the community support the band gave. Do you think we can beat the last food drive? I DO!

I know it is hard to feed our own families, however last time we helped feed an entire cities needy families for two weeks. So I plan to donate each time I go to the grocery store. The winning class will be rewarded with an ice cream party! This is not to bribe them. It is to remind them. And also help them realize that the hard work they put into the food drive is a way to give back.

Last Fall we donated to Hearts and Hands and they invited us into their warehouse where the students helped bag up food for an entire city. This took not even fifteen minutes. This Spring fundraiser will be the same. So please we would like to see more students participate in that part. It helps for them to be educated about the needs in their own community because we all know these kids are the best role-models of or schools and after college we would like them to come back and help our community grow.

I hope everyone is having a fun Spring Break and thank you to all those who support this project. I must say they say the best thing to donate is canned fruit and veggies and since the class with the most weight wins the party can goods are a great way to help your child out. So when he or she says mom I need five cans a week for the next four weeks..... you will know why!

Thank you to all the band members who painted to help raise funds, I would like the families to be proud that your students helped the band raise over $1500.00. That is split with the High School Band however many of us have students in both anyways!

The Mustangs Play at The First Presbyterian Church Of Eustis on March 12, 2014

The Mustangs Play at The First Presbyterian Church Of Eustis on March 12, 2014.
Both Jazz Band and The Steel Drum Bands played excellent music entertaining a full house.

Getting these students out and about in our community is all good things! It was amazing to hear how proud the citizens of our city were of the students. But the band students earned every single compliment.

Thank you for this opportunity and thank you Eustis for coming out and seeing us!

Tickets are still for sell for Our 4th Annual Jazz Revue. This is our largest fundraiser of the year do please SHARE!

Please Release and/or Share Immediately:

Thank you if you have. However this non profit fundraiser is so important to the Eustis Band Programs and we still have tickets for sale. These 6th-12 graders are depending on us to raise the funds they need for scholarships, instruments entry fees, transportation and repairs.

On March 21, 2013, the Eustis Band Program will be having it’s 4th Annual Jazz Revue. A night with a three course meal, served with an evening of the Arts. It will feature live Jazz performances by the Eustis High Panther and Eustis Middle Mustang Jazz Ensembles, student soloists and a special guest artist.

The event is held at the First Baptist Church of Eustis, at 3551 E Orange Ave in Eustis. This event attracts many business leaders, as well as community leaders because 100% of the proceeds go directly back to the Eustis Band Program and provides music, equipment and instruments for children in 6th thru 12th grade.

This fundraiser is the largest of the year and is a great way to get close and personal with the current and future leaders of our community. Each year the Eustis Jazz Revue invites a renowned clinician to join the ensembles. The benefit of having a clinician is the time spent with each band, working directly with the students, and sharing the things that they have learned over their years of experience. Having this as part of the event helps the students with confidence and teaches them to work as a group and with new musicians. This year we are proud to have Scott Wilson.

Scott Wilson is a Gerhard Baier Trumpet Artist, founder of the on-line Jazz Education Store and Assistant Professor in Jazz at the University of Florida. Wilson has diverse international performance credits and has served as Musical Director for Universal Studios Japan, consultant for Limelite Productions in Singapore, staff composer for Grand Link World in Qingdao, China, consultant for Walt Disney’s “Magic Music Days” jazz workshops and has been a featured jazz trumpet soloist for Tokyo Disney Sea and Universal Studios Japan. Wilson served as an Artistic Director for The Music School in Utah (Downbeat winners in 2006 & 2007). He now serves as Artistic Director for LakeShore Producers, consultant for Foxy Cat Web Designs, and serves as jazz theory consultant for the Jazz Education Network.

To see a portion of last year’s Jazz Revue with Chuck Archard as clinician, go tohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7vRBOr8tPc and watch one of our proud parents video post. The groovy sound will make you dance all night long (just like the EHS director’s daughter in the video).

The evening starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends around 9 p.m. You will have all your senses filled starting with the foyer lined with beautiful art created by the band students. Art is Music for The Soul is a new part of this event. It is a silent auction and will have many paintings of all art styles. The band students demonstrate that they are artistic in many ways by doing more than one art. No matter if you like Abstract, Minimalism, Graffiti Art, Postmodernism, or Post-postmodernism the artistic minds of the band students will show you just how inspired they really are.

While enjoying the Art Gallery and finding your reserved seats, the Eustis High School Culinary Department prepares your delicious meal including salad, chicken parmesan, dessert and beverage. Once seated, you are then served at your table, your dinner is served by the band students, who will soon be performing the music from these award winning bands. Many of these 12 to 18 year old band students have gone through the entire Eustis Band Program, starting even earlier at the elementary school level via Seminole Springs Elementary.

These bands are requested and frequently perform all over the Lake County Community. If you have not had the please of hearing them before, than you are in for a real treat. You will be amazed at the skill level of these performers.

TICKETS ARE STILL FOR SALE! This year all seating is reserved seating (please mention if seating a large party together and/or the need for a vegetarian meal) and may be purchased by calling the Eustis Band Treasurer, Andrea Jauschneg @ 352-357-3921 or by going to www.eustisband.com
